Is heating my home by firewood more cost effective?
Most alternative heat sources are less affordable than firewood for home heating.
How do I calculate how much firewood I need to heat my home?

What is the difference between hardwood and softwood firewood?
Softwood grows faster and is less dense than hardwood. Hardwood as a denser wood which burns hotter and longer, giving more heat. Hardwood leaves hotter lingering coals resulting in restarting the fire less often.
Why is using seasoned wood important?
Fresh cut or green wood is too high in moisture content and will not burn, and poorly seasoned wood is bad for your chimney leading to fire hazard.
Should I store the wood inside or outside?
The best storage method is under roof with open sides for maximum airflow. It is also acceptable to pile outside. We do not recommend storing large quantities in your basement where it cannot breathe and is damp.
What is the best wood for smoking meats, cook ovens, such as pizza ovens?
Smaller thickness wood in 12 inch lengths, sorted for specific species allows for greater ability to control heat and impart the desired flavor to the food. Hickory, Apple, Cherry, Oak and Maple are the nicest flavours.
How often should I have my chimney cleaned.
At least once a year to prevent fire hazards.
